Myanmar delegation donates Buddha and Arahant Relics
On 19th August 2023, a Myanmar Buddhist delegation led by Venerable Tikkasara and Venerable Ashin Sucitta (PhD candidates of the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies, University of Kelaniya), visited Yahangala Ancient Royal Temple.
In order to consolidate the cultural relation between Yahangala temple and Mynamar Buddhism, Venerable Tikkasara donated sacred relics of the Buddha (sarvagna dhatu) and relics of the Arahant Sariputta Mahathera, Arahant Moggallana Mahathera and Arahant Ananda Mahathera. The relics were reverentially received by the Chief Incumbent, Senior Lecturer Venerable Dr.Wadinagala Pannaloka Mahathera, with Venerable Koholankala Sumanawansa Mahathera and Venerable Nalagama Dhammawansa Mahathera. More than thousand devotees of the Yahangala ancient temple participated in the ceremony conduct to respect the sacred relics.
