Yahangala Ancient Royal Temple, Bandagiriya, Hambantota
Yahangala Ancient Royal Temple (Sinhala: Yahangala Purana Rajamaha Viharaya) is an ancient Buddhist site situated in the Bangadiriya Village of Hambatota District in Southern Sri Lanka. The temple claims a history of two thousand and two hundred years. It had been built by the first Ruler of Southern Sri Lanka, (Rohana kingdom) the king Mahanaga. The ruins of the site indicate archeological features belonging to the early phase of Anuradhapura period. From Hambantota city, there are 12 kilometers via Colombo-Kataragma Road to the destination.
