Drip-ledged Ancient Caves
Increasing the historical value of the place, there two drip-ledged caves. They are carved into the main rock and found in the southern area of the place. According to legendary history, in ancient times, Buddhist monks who had attained the third highest stage of spiritual development, called Anagamins (non-returners) had lived in these caves. In modern history, the first Chief Incumbent of the temple Venerable Pulwelle Sri Seelawansa Maha thero in his early years had lived in these caves. There is no painting or any other artwork in any of the caves.
