Ruins of A Monastic Complex
According to archeologists, Yahangala temple had been an ancient Monstic complex. Proving this reading, there are six places which seem to be monastic dwelling houese in ancient times. One can find square shaped foundations and in the middle of them, there are stone pillars, some are broken and some are half visible. For some constructions, there are few-stepped stair cases. Construction I (A Possible Shrine Room) There are six places which have not been excavated. One is located just below the stage of three pagodas. On the surface, the are stone pillars nearly 2-feet high. Several years ago, here there was ruins of a Buddha statue. However, by the moment it is not found. We can infer this could have been the Srine Room with the Buddha Statue. From this construction, a stair-case with a Moon Stone joins the stair-case which runs to the Main Pagoda.
